Spa Cover Clearance Requirements

When installing a spa underneath a structure, such as a deck, it is important to ensure proper clearance to avoid any potential issues. In some cases, a standard 50/50 split cover may not be suitable due to the first fold coming into contact with the underside of the deck. However, this problem can be resolved by special ordering a 40/60 cover and utilizing a vanish cover lifter. In this support article, we will guide you through the process of addressing clearance issues and ordering the necessary components to ensure a successful spa installation.

Assessing the Clearance

Before proceeding with any orders or modifications, it is crucial to evaluate the clearance between the spa and the underside of the deck. Ensure that there is sufficient space to accommodate the desired cover without it coming into contact with the deck when folded.

Special Ordering a 40/60 Split Cover

To address the clearance issue, you will need to obtain a 40/60 split cover instead of the standard 50/50 split cover. The 40/60 cover offers a smaller section for the first fold, preventing it from touching the underside of the deck.

Selecting a Vanish Cover Lifter

To ensure that the cover lifts to an appropriate height without interfering with the deck, it is recommended to utilize a vanish cover lifter. The vanish cover lifter is designed to raise the cover to a lower height compared to traditional lifters, minimizing the chances of it coming into contact with the structure above.
