Bullfrog Spas come standard requiring a 220v / 50amp power supply. Powering a hot tub in this configuration allows the hot tub to perform most efficiently and optimally. If supplying 220v to your spa is not available, some spas can be converted to use a 120v power supply.
Advantages to a 120v conversion:
1. Easier setup
2. More portable
Disadvantages to a 120v conversion:
1. 60% less jet power – A 120v conversion exchanges a 2.5 horsepower pump for a 1 horsepower pump
2. Heating time and heat retention. Pulling only 120 volts restricts the spa to either run the jets or run the heater – the spa cannot heat the water and run the jets at the same time
3. 15’ power cord. If the outlet is not within 15’ of where the spa is placed, the customer is responsible to resolve and find a solution
4. Fewer features are available for 120v hot tubs:
— Cannot be combined with the WellSpring™️ Filtration Pump
— Cannot be combined with EOS™️ – Enhanced Ozone System
